Remembrance Sunday
This Remembrance Sunday, there will be a wreath-laying ceremony at St. Margaret’s Church at 11 am. This will be preceded by a Service of Remembrance for all faiths at 10 am.
This year marks 100 years since collective Remembrance traditions were first brought together.
“Remembrance means different things to different people,” writes The Royal British Legion. “For some it’s about observing traditional elements of Remembrance such as the Two Minute Silence and the laying of wreaths. But over the years, and across different cultures and communities, Remembrance is evolving. Remembrance now takes many forms and means something different to everyone. It can be a collective act or something deeply personal.”
Last year saw the first time that the Remembrance service was live-streamed through social media. We know that for some people, getting out and together with others is still very difficult. We are sharing this video from The Royal British Legion here to encourage everyone to act and remember in the way they are most comfortable with and to know that however that may be, we are still together.
